Senior photos guys! Looking sharp.
I pride myself on a general prevalence of good days; great days even. But on rare occasion, somewhere beyond a z-score of negative 2 - perhaps less than one day out of a hundred - I end up with a bad one.
You see, coming home from school I had already lost Assassin by only two votes (perhaps I should have been a bit less extreme in my methods), and was a little bummed. To cheer myself up, I opted for some pomegranate green tea and a new book to read out on the patio. While sitting there, I started thinking about the beach trip tomorrow, and was reminded of doing backflips in the sand over summer. This got me wondering if I could even do a front-flip anymore, as I haven’t tried in a few months. So I set down my book and decided that the best course of action was to attempt a running front-flip over the concrete in my backyard. Brilliant.
Now if you’re thinking this story ends in me with a concussion, you obviously aren’t familiar with my ability - I landed the flip perfectly. It was the fact that my iPhone came flying out of my pocket mid flip that ensured this story’s inevitable, unhappy ending. As soon as my feet flipped over back to my front and I landed I heard a shatter to my right side, and was abhorred (yes abhorred) to find my faithful companion fallen in combat with a screen more shattered than my dreams of becoming Yearbook Assassin. Additionally, the phone was reading “NO SIM,” so I feared the SIM card might have broken as a result of the impact.
But I, I am an engineer! So I brought the phone in, took it apart and replaced the screen with an iPhone 4 screen that I had in my possession from before. I examined the part of the motherboard where the SIM card inserts while I had the phone apart and there didn’t appear to be any damage. And when I put it all back together, voila! - the replaced screen worked perfectly! But with my luck, the phone still refuses to recognize the SIM, which means my iPhone is virtually useless unless connected to wifi.
So, in the end, I suppose the only good thing about today is that I know I can still do a front-flip. Good times. Good times….
So last weekend apparently my neighbors complained to my dad about the clover growing in our lawn. So I decided to mow it today and completely go around the clover so it can continue to grow unimpeded, as all clover deserves to. I even made sure they saw me taking extra care to water my Clover Patch while watching the eclipse.
It’s amazing that even in today’s modern society there are still people who discriminate against minority lawn plant species. What a shame.
“Memoirs of a Geisha” poster in the background. I’ll have to add it to my list of movies I need to see, I’ve heard of it before.
And unfortunately voting for yearbook assassin shall take place Monday so I’ll have to go one more weekend in suspense.
